why rhcd

At Rocky Hill Country Day, our vision is for students to be doing and becoming, emphasizing process over product.  Our school motto “Know Thyself” remains a guiding principle in our approach to fulfilling our mission.

RHCD students are building competencies in thinking critically, navigating the world ethically, and communicating intentionally in order to discover their full selves and use their wisdom for good.

Our students find themselves not only well prepared for college academics and personal independence, but also for wherever their life’s journey takes them.

CLUBS

TRIPS
Students in grades 7-12 take trips designed to further their academic and social-emotional growth. Current multi-day trips include Nature's Classroom, Quebec, and hiking and backpacking excursions.
SERVICE
LEARNING
Service learning is the practice of integrating relevant service work into academic courses, allowing students to connect knowledge and theory to practice. A key component of service learning is reflection. At RHCD, students participate in both service learning and community service opportunities, the latter often being a one-time experience.
ATHLETICS
Our athletic programs operate within the framework of The Mariner Way – a philosophy centered on resiliency, effort, and pride. Every practice, every game, every team trip, every workout – we do things The Mariner Way.
ARTS
Rocky Hill Country Day has a robust preschool-grade 12 performing arts program. Problem solving and creative learning encourages students to connect visual knowledge to other subjects and respond with originality, understanding, flexibility, and imagination.
INNOVATION
At Rocky Hill Country Day School, innovation is a mindset and begins with creating a culture of risk-taking. Students focus their passions on building a better future for all, understanding that their efforts can have a direct and positive impact on the world.
