The Arts

Visual Arts

We believe that an understanding of our world and acceptance of different cultures is essential to a productive and balanced life, so at Rocky Hill Country Day the visual arts are an integral part of the curriculum. Problem solving and creative learning encourages students to connect visual knowledge to other subjects and respond with originality, understanding, flexibility, and imagination.

Performing Arts

Rocky Hill Country Day has a robust preschool-grade 12 performing arts program. Students in preschool begin in our general music program and progress to a 5th-grade instrumental music course coupled with chorus. Middle and Upper School students can select from choral, instrumental, and dramatic arts programs. The School is proud to host a chapter of the Tri-M, National Music Honor Society which gives students the opportunity to collaborate with other musicians around the country. In addition, our recording studio gives students the opportunity to compose and record original music.

Vocal Music

In all divisions, students explore a wide range of musical styles, from traditional folk songs, to classical and jazz, to pop and contemporary. At developmentally appropriate levels, singers learn proper vocal technique and sight reading skills, as well as the discipline of singing with musicality, movement, and expression.

Instrumental Music

Rocky Hill Country Day is proud to host a chapter of the Tri-M, National Music Honor Society which gives students the opportunity to collaborate with other musicians around the country. Our recording studio gives students the opportunity to compose and record original music.

Theater

In collaboration with Trinity Repertory Company, students can participate in our Fall Theater Intensive, Winter Musical, or Spring Play, as a co-curricular activity. Our theater program empowers actors of all abilities as they immerse themselves in an in-depth course of study in voice and speech, movement for the actor, and effective audition skills.
