international enrollment

Rocky Hill Country Day School has a long history of enrolling international students to attend our programming in the Upper and Middle Divisions. We work with enrollment partners or with families on an individual basis to support students with local home-stay options. These students complete the same application process but are required to submit a test of English language ability to support their application.

As is the case for all of our students, our intentionally small size affords international students the opportunity to connect immediately with students and faculty, allows each student a ‘front seat’ at the Harkness table, and provides opportunities in leadership and athletics that they may not get at a larger school. Additionally, our top quality visual arts department immerses students in a variety of mediums.  We invite you to check out these student experiences!

Supporting our International Students

Coordinator of International Programs

It has been an honor to work at Rocky Hill Country Day School.  As a teacher, I help our international students to prepare for their academic success by not only learning the English language but also making deep connections in conversation, culture, and current events. As an international program coordinator, I help all students participate in and contribute to our rich school culture.   I enjoy educating, empowering, and supporting my students equally and uniquely, and helping them to appreciate the infusion of the arts and athletics as a core part of their education.  The most rewarding aspect has been the relationships I built with my students as they learn and grow. It is so gratifying to be a support and mentor to students who are embarking on an educational journey that can be as challenging as it is rewarding.

Acting as a liaison between the school and international families has also been a wonderful experience.  I hold monthly International parent meetings to disseminate the school information as well as to share the student activities and personal stories. I work hard to ensure that the families can feel connected to our school community and feel confident in their child’s education. Every year, our international program has student-led activities to share our own culture through celebrations such as Lunar New Year and Ramadan.  We do the excursions together to nearby cities such as  Boston or New York to provide additional opportunities for them.  When I see our students take the initiative to plan events, create newsletters, and offer feedback for improvement, I feel my mission has been accomplished.
