Rocky Hill School partners with Trinity Repertory Company for the production of the School’s theatrical performances. Trinity Rep’s education staff collaborates with Rocky Hill’s performing arts faculty to provide kindergarten through grade 12 students with the pedagogical expertise needed to learn the process of theater and to hone their craft.
A community partnership with this renowned theatrical group will continue to develop a drama program that is well-balanced between divisions, recognizes Rocky Hill School’s traditions, and offers students multiple opportunities to learn and practice theater arts in a developmentally appropriate manner.
Creative dramatics are incorporated through the Lower School music curriculum. Kindergarten-Grade Two students present a short drama adaptation in the fall, and the Grade 3-5 students produce a longer work that is performed in the spring.
Middle school students have the opportunity to combine their talents with Upper School students to present both the Fall Variety Show and the annual Musical in the spring. Additionally, the Middle School students also have the opportunity to rehearse and present a series of One Act Plays as one of the MS co-curricular options in the Winter Season.
In the Upper School, drama is offered in the fall, winter, and spring as a co-curricular activity. In the fall, students collaborate to create a variety show, which is performed in November. The winter season offers students the opportunity to explore a series of One Act plays, which are performed in early February. One of these short works will also be entered in the RI Play Festival. Our season culminates with the spring musical, with a three-show run performed in May.
