Jan is passionate about education and marketing and as Director of Admissions she utilizes skills honed from her experience in two professions: Advertising and Teaching. She has developed marketing strategies, media programs and communications plans for national companies and organizations from Citizens Bank and Federal Express to Stride Rite, Dexter shoes and Danskin clothing. Following a return to school and a Master’s Degree in Education she entered the classroom and fed her desire to work with young people. Jan has spent time as a teacher in public, Catholic and independent schools, rounding out a clear perspective of the RI education landscape.

A committed professional with expertise in building relationships, she affirms her passion for schools, education, marketing and creating results through her role as Director of Admissions and Financial Assistance.

As an Alumnus, Mauran Bowl recipient, Alumni Board Member and parent of a Lower School student, Kristin has a wealth of experience and perspective to bring to the Admission Department.   Kristin received her BS in Education from Salve Regina University and developed her skills as an effective communicator and strategic thinker while serving as classroom teacher and grade level leader in Nashville, TN.   She then transitioned to marketing and advertising where she managed client marketing programs for both local and national brands.  The combination of classroom and marketing experience, combined with her roots at RHCD make her uniquely qualified to bring new families to our community.

Our Lower School enhances the academic and social-emotional environment that is most conducive to learning, development, and growth throughout the early childhood years. The integrity of the kindergarten, first, and second grade programs ensure

  • commitment to “knowing” each student, their strengths, areas of challenge, and potential through ongoing progress monitoring
  • formation of relevant foundational skills through developmentally appropriate “best practices”
  • opportunities for students to learn in flexible groups that foster modeling and collaborative learning with peers of the same and different ages, abilities, and interests to expand academic and social-emotional experiences

The strong sense of community at Rocky Hill Country Day is a result of the deep commitment of our teachers and the joyful environment on campus. Students are known by their teachers and by their peers, and the connection between faculty and students ensures that we are able to identify and support the unique strengths of each child. We are a family school not only because we value relationships, but also because Rocky Hill Country Day parents are closely involved in working with us in preparing our students to be confident, caring, and successful citizens.
