The Meet Maya Angelou Web Page Assignment

Task:

Your task is to create a web site that gives information about Maya Angelou and also links to other internet sites related to Maya Angelou. Your web pages will be created mainly for teachers and students in our school, but they will also be uploaded on the internet so that virtually the whole world could have access to your site.

Objectives (technology):

You will:

  • learn to create web pages using the program Claris Home Page;
  • add backgrounds, rules, and graphics to web pages to create an attractive design;
  • and organize and present the information on a web site.

You will:

  • research the library and internet to find information about Maya Angelou;
  • assess the validity of the information on these web sites;
  • demonstrate an understanding of the basic facts of Maya Angelou's life;
  • respond to various elements of her (his)story;
  • and analyze her style.

Required Elements:

Your web site should include:

  • a title page/table of contents page;
  • 5-6 web pages of information;
  • a bibliography page or bibliographical references for all information obtained elsewhere;
  • links between web pages;
  • links to at least three other internet sites on the World Wide Web that you think Maya would find interesting based upon your knowledge of her character;
  • an explanation as to why she would find these web pages interesting;
  • representation and discussion of three people and three experiences that have had a significant impact on Maya's growth as an individual;
  • and analysis of stylistic elements within I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.

Completed assignment must be submitted by 3:00 p.m., December 7, 1998.
