Visual art students from Rocky Hill School have been challenged to create 3D charm prototypes to reflect the school’s student competencies (Navigator, critical thinker, citizen, communicator, innovative, self-aware, ethical, globally-minded) under the guidance of designers from ALEX AND ANI, an eco-conscious jewelry and accessories brand, headquartered and produced in Cranston, Rhode Island. The design challenge will expose the students to concept ideation, research, the design process, marketing, and rapid prototyping of the final products.
On Friday, January 12, three members of the ALEX AND ANI Design Team spent a full day on the Rocky Hill School campus meeting with students and faculty. They shared with the school community their expert knowledge of the design process. As Artists-in-Residence within Rocky Hill School’s Center for Innovation, the ALEX AND ANI design team have embedded in the school to mentor the students on how the design process is reflected in our approach to learning.
The ALEX AND ANI designers included Rosie Somers, Rob Faustine, and Nitasha Carpenter.
