On Monday, April 30, more than 25 Rocky Hill School students served the local East Greenwich community at St. Luke’s Church. Chef Jay and Lauren Savoia hosted a “Cooking for the Community” event in partnership with Christ Community Kitchen, which offers community members meals on a “free will” basis. Students cooked and served an Italian feast for over 125 people!
“Thank you for organizing this incredibly important community work! I heard nothing but positive feedback from the kids that I spoke to. In the very brief time I was there I heard a range of comments and reflections: many said it was “so much fun,” “we should do this more often,” “it would be so great if more meals were offered so people didn’t have to worry about getting their dinner,” “what about if breakfast was offered since that’s the most important meal of the day,” “maybe we can grow food and give it to the church,” and “I liked being a greeter and serving the food.” – Monica Iacono Boss ’91, P’22, ’23, ’26
