Lacrosse
Girls
ages 8-14, both beginner and experienced,
will have the opportunity to learn,
improve, and sharpen their lacrosse skills
from a seasoned lacrosse coach on Rocky
Hill's beautiful coastal fields. There
will be an emphasis placed on learning
defensive and offensive strategies,
understanding the rules of the game,
and the value of team play and good
sportsmanship. All players are required
to bring their own mouth guard, goggles
and lacrosse stick.

Camp
Children will learn the basic
lead-up skills encompassing a variety of team and individual sports.
Cooperation and teamwork are honed, while students participate in
basketball, lacrosse, soccer, wiffle ball, rock-wall climbing, and
other group initiative games. Throwing, catching, running, dodging,
fleeing, climbing and striking are among the skills and movements
that children will explore while playing these games. The group
will also learn the rules of play and scoring for each sport that
is introduced. This program is sure to be fun, exciting and challenging
to all. Campers should wear clothes and footwear
appropriate for indoor/outdoor
activities.

This program will focus on
the skills needed for each player to improve in the areas of shooting,
passing, and defense. Fundamentals will be taught in combination
with drills, contests, and scrimmages. Each player will also receive
take-home drills to help make him or her a more complete basketball
player in the off-season. The goal is to work hard, have fun, and
enjoy the game of basketball.

This activity-filled week
introduces bikers to off-road cycling while touring different sites
in Rhode Island . Students will ride on old logging paths, fire
roads, dirt roads and some smooth single-track trails at nearby
state parks such as Lincoln Woods, Arcadia Management Area, Big
River Management Area, and
Goddard Park . Bikers will
learn mountain biking techniques as well as basic bicycle maintenance.
Riders must have a well-maintained, multiple-gear mountain bike,
helmet, and water bottle.

Introductory Climbing is
for those individuals who enjoy being in “high places” and do not
mind a little physical exertion. The climbing program is an introduction
to technical climbing and instructs the students in the skills necessary
to climb a vertical wall. Campers will be taught how to use standard
climbing equipment, basic handholds, belaying, knot tying, climbing
safety and teamwork. The program will take place on campus, making
use of the School's 24-foot indoor climbing wall.

This program is designed
to introduce younger children to the exciting world of Kempo Karate.
All of the children will be taught beginner techniques such as blocking,
kicking, and striking. They will also enjoy a daily arts and crafts
project aimed at exposing the children to the Japanese culture.
Equipment is provided, and includes a uniform and belt. Students
will keep their equipment at the end of the session. If time and
weather permit, the day will end with a quick dip at Rocky Hill's
beautiful life guarded waterfront beach.

BEGINNER
TENNIS
The tennis program is geared
toward children at a beginner ability level. The goal of the clinic
is to instruct children in the fundamentals of tennis, and to give
them a place where they can play and be part of a tennis community.
The tennis will be organized to match the children's ability levels
and to foster healthy competition.

INTERMEDIATE
TENNIS
This tennis program is geared
toward children at an intermediate ability level. The goal of the
clinic is to instruct children in the fundamentals of service and
volley skills while participating in daily match play.
Student wishing to enroll
should have prior tennis experience.

Lead The Way camps and clinics
provide top-notch instruction to athletes of all skill levels. The
camps provide an atmosphere for all athletes to learn the newest
skills in an encouraging and competitive environment. Athletes of
all ability levels between the ages of 8-14 are encouraged to attend
and will be
grouped for instruction by
age and experience to enhance their learning. Skills and tactics
are reinforced through fun competition, small game play and tournaments. To

. All participants must register directly with Lead the Way and
not through Rocky Hill School .
