8th Grade Visits Quebec
2008
JOYEUX CARNIVAL!
- The 8th grade students returned to Rhode Island after
spending four, fun-filled days with our northern neighbors in Quebec
City. The 8th grade class arrived in Quebec during a snowstorm,
which added 30cm of snow to an already blanketed city. Unfortunately,
the storm caused the postponement of the opening ceremonies for
the Winter Carnival, only the 4th time in its 54 year history. The
group was able to enjoy the festivities the following evening with
thousands of spectators enjoying the music and fireworks that kick-off
this two-week event. While in Quebec, the 8th grade students, along
with Mr. Jedrey, Ms. Rainone, and Mr. Bartlett, learned about the
history of the Province and its connection to our own historical
past. They also snowshoed through a forest, tasted the local cuisine,
toured sites throughout the only fortified city in North America,
learned some of the local lingo, and spent a night snow tubing.
It was a magnificent adventure.
