Frances Gammell-Roach, President

Frances Gammell-Roach has been a trustee for over 10 years and is currently president of the Board of Trustees. She is retired after 20 years in financial management at Bradford Soap Works.

Her volunteer activities have included past chair of the Providence Children's Museum, St. Mary's Home for Children, and St. Luke's Church, Director of the RI Philharmonic, the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and the Soap and Detergent Association. She is presently chair of the Diocesan Investment Trust of the RI Episcopal Church.

Her three children, Erik '96, Will '04, Laura '06 all attended Rocky Hill School and her mother, Kay Howland, was a music teacher and trustee at Rocky Hill.   Email Fran

Edwin J. Santos, Co-Vice President

Executive Vice President and General Auditor, Citizens Financial Group

Committee Assignments: Finance Committee, Executive Committee

Edwin J. Santos joined Citizens Financial Group as Executive Vice President and General Auditor in October 2004. In addition to directing the company's Audit Group, Ed is a member of the Executive Policy Committee – the company's senior management team.

Recognized as a leader in the internal audit profession, Ed brings 23 years of experience in corporate governance and management advisory services to Rocky Hill School. His community involvement beyond his career in banking is extensive. He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Roger Williams Medical Center, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for Crossroads Rhode Island, and a member of the Board of Delta Dental. In addition, Ed recently completed his term as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at his alma mater, Bryant University.

Ed, a Certified Internal Auditor, received a BS degree from Bryant University in 1981. Ed, his wife, Paula, and their children, Rocky Hill School students Erica '11, Steven ‘14 and Michael '18, live in North Kingstown, RI.     Email Ed

Stephen F. Siegel, PhD , Co-Vice President

President, Coney Island Ventures

Steve Siegel joined the Board of Trustees in 2006 and brings with him extensive business experience. Most recently, he is the founder of Coney Island Ventures (a management consulting firm), co-founder of Building2 Investments (an international venture capital company), and Chairman of Andera. Steve holds a BS from Brooklyn College, and his MS and PhD are from Brown University.

 

Steve volunteers his time and expertise at many other organizations. Serving his second term as Chairman of the Board of Advisors of the Brown University Entrepreneurship Program, Steve has been instrumental in mentoring many students in business and management. Other notable Board involvement has included the Glimpse Foundation (a non-profit charitable foundation that fosters international cross-cultural understanding and exchange), City Year RI, and Slater Fund.

 

He and his wife, Jayne Kurkjian-Siegel, PhD live in East Greenwich and are the parents of Rocky Hill School students Amanda, Class of 2015 and Abby, Class of 2017.   Email Steve

Richard Barker ‘54, Treasurer

Richard (Dick) Barker '54 has a long history with Rocky Hill School, first as a student here from third through 8th grade, and later as a parent, volunteer and Board Member. Dick's first term with the Rocky Hill Board was from 1984 -1993 during which time he served as President (1988 -1993). Dick returned as the Board Treasurer in 2000.

 

Dick spent much of his professional career in the banking industry. From 1965 -1986 he was a Vice President and a Commercial Banking Officer at Bank of New England/Old Colony. He then joined Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank as a Vice President where he worked until 1993. Since then, Dick has worked in real estate and is currently a broker for Phipps Realty. Dick received his BS in Business Administration from Bryant College, and completed additional educational and professional development course work at University of Georgia, UConn, and Williams College.

 

Dick's civic volunteer work goes beyond Rocky Hill, as he is the former Treasurer and Board member of The Tomorrow Fund and was given the Friend for Life Award in 1997 for his service. Rocky Hill has also recognized Dick's generous support and many successes. In 1989, he was presented with the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award, and in 2003, the Headmaster's Award for Community Service. Dick and his wife, Carol, reside in North Kingstown and have a son, Rick, Rocky Hill Class of 1983 and a daughter Jennifer.  Email Dick

W. Michael Sullivan, PhD, Secretary

Director, RI Department of Environmental Management

Michael Sullivan was appointed by Governor Donald L. Carcieri to his cabinet in April 2005. As Director of DEM, Mike oversees a broad range of environmental programs, ranging from permitting and enforcement to fish and wildlife, agriculture, forestry, open space preservation, and management of the state's parks and beaches. Mike earned his PhD in Agronomy from the University of Nebraska in 1981. He holds an MS in Agronomy from the University of Vermont, and a BS in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Rhode Island.

Prior to his appointment to the DEM, Mike served as a Professor of Plant Sciences at the University of Rhode Island from 1981 to 2005. The author of scores of articles in scientific journals, his research has focused on land-use management practices and their impact or potential impact on water quality. He is a member of the American Society of Agronomy, the Soil Science Society of America, and the Crop Science Society of America.

Beyond his volunteer commitment to Rocky Hill, Mike has a long history of public service. He served on the Richmond Town Council from 1988 -1992, and from 1998 - 2006 he was Town Council President. He also served as a RI State Senator from 1993 - 1997.  He has been a Director of the Portuguese American Scholarship Foundation (1995 - 2002); Member of the Rhode Island Scenic Roadways Board (1992 to present); Director of Borders Farm Preservation, Inc. (1998 to present); Member of Rhode Island Community Farm (2003 to present); and Member of the Rhode Island Conservation Commission (1983 - 2001).

Mike and his wife, Mary, reside in West Kingston. They have three children, all of whom attended Rocky Hill School: Matt '96, Peter '99, and Bridget '01.   Email Mike

Glenn R. Ahlborg

President & COO, TPG Construction, Inc. - The Procaccianti Group

Glenn Ahlborg is President and Chief Operating Officer of TPG Construction, Inc., and has over twenty-five years experience in the construction industry. With over a billion dollars of GC, CM & Design Build experience in commercial, hospitality, government, institutional, industrial and multi-residential construction, Glenn Ahlborg is responsible for presiding over all construction operations for TPG projects, as well as third party projects for new and repeat customers. Glenn earned a BSBA degree in Real Estate & Construction Management from the University of Denver, School of Business; he subsequently started his construction management career in the Denver, Colorado area. In 1981 Glenn joined O. Ahlborg & Sons, Inc., which was started by his great-grandfather Olaf Ahlborg in 1926. Glenn rose to President & Chief Operating Officer of the company and directed over 500 major construction projects, including Rocky Hill's Alan F. Flynn, Jr. Academic Center (Upper School), Providence Public Safety Complex, McCoy Stadium Baseball Facility, Filenes at Warwick Mall, Roger Williams University Recreation Center, The Bank of America Skating Rink, and The Century Plaza Office Building.

 

Prior to joining TPG Construction, Glenn also co-founded and operated Austin Ross Construction, Inc., which is named after his two sons Austin & Ross. Specializing in multi-residential, institutional and commercial projects, Austin Ross grew to a fifty million dollar a year company, completing many notable projects in the Southeastern New England Area. Glenn also participated in the development of real estate in the areas of multi-residential condominium projects. In 2006 Glenn merged Austin Ross Construction with TPG's Brownstone Construction entity, which today has formed TPG Construction.

 

Glenn is also active in industry, civic, non-profit and philanthropic organizations and currently serves on many boards,  of which he has received numerous awards for his personal contribution to the community and outstanding achievements in construction. He resides in Providence and has four children, all of whom have attended, or currently attend Rocky Hill School: Austin '06, Ross '09, Olivia '19, and Abbey '21.     Email Glenn

Robert H. Breslin III ‘87

Vice President, Jones & Associates

 

Bob Breslin attended Rocky Hill School from seventh through twelfth grade, and was captain of the varsity lacrosse team his senior year. He later graduated from St. Lawrence University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Presently, Bob is an equity trader and Vice President at Jones & Associates, a Boston brokerage firm that specializes in the execution of block trades between institutional money managers.

 

Bob's father is a former Board of Trustees member; his sister Melissa Breslin Chafee ‘80 also attended Rocky Hill School. Bob and his wife Jennifer Cabot Breslin have three children and live in Dedham, MA.  Email Bob

Ande Frost

Business Consultant and Community Volunteer

Ande was born in Johannesburg, South Africa where she attended the University of the Witwatersrand earning a Bachelor of Science degree, and a postgraduate degree in Education. Her career interests and experience span high school teaching, computer programming, marketing, branding, publishing and business management. Ande has always exhibited a passion for education whether it was through expanding the opportunities for uneducated, unemployable “disenfranchised” youth in South Africa, volunteering as a teacher, or seeking out the best for her own three children.

 

Shortly after Ande and her husband Peter, a native Rhode Islander, moved to the United States, Ande ran a financial and marketing consulting firm from 1994 -1999, working with clients in South Africa who were motivated to offer credit to people with extremely low income.

 

Ande's professional and volunteer experiences have centered on marketing, fundraising, education (particularly the sciences) and health care. She brings invaluable energy and expertise to her role as Rocky Hill School Trustee and Co-Chair of Charting the Course – The Mariners' Campaign for Rocky Hill School.

 

The Frosts live in Narragansett, RI and their three children attend Rocky Hill: Chelsey `10, Read `16 and Jamie `17.  Email Ande

Mary Ann Hackett

Former Rocky Hill School Parent Teacher League Treasurer and President

Committee Assignments: Chair, Communications Task Force

Mary Ann Hackett is an active parent in the Rocky Hill Community. Her involvement in the Parent Teacher League as Treasurer and President has made her a familiar face around the campus.

Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, she arrived in Rhode Island after living in Hong Kong and Manila, Philippines for 8 years. Most recently she and her family lived in Dubai, UAE. She has two children in the Rocky  Hill Upper School, and continues to volunteer for the PTL. She has also been an active member of the Saunderstown Yacht Club as their secretary. Email Mary Ann

Michael F. Kraemer, Esq.

Hinckley, Allen & Snyder, LLP

Michael F. Kraemer is a partner in the Providence law firm of Hinckley, Allen & Snyder LLP, specializing in labor and employment matters. Coming to Providence in 2002, he previously practiced law in the Philadelphia area.

 

Michael received his JD from the University of Pennsylvania and is also an alumnus of Amherst College. He is a past president of the Amherst Association of Philadelphia and the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award given by the Amherst College Alumni Council. His civic and charitable involvement also includes volunteer work for Springside School, in Philadelphia, and Penn Law School. He is a member of the University Club in Providence.

 

Michael and his wife, Ross, reside in Providence. She is a professor at Brown University, in the Religious Studies Department. Their daughter Jordan is a 2000 graduate of Wesleyan University, holds a master's degree from the University of Chicago, and is a PhD student in anthropology at the University of California at Irvine.   Email Michael

Nancy K. Mellor

President, International Perspectives, Ltd. and Furnished Luxury Properties of Las Vegas, LLC

Nancy K. Mellor is a graduate of Lincoln School, earning her BA from Holy Cross College, and an MBA from Northeastern University. Nancy is the President of International Perspectives, Ltd. and the owner and President of Furnished Luxury Properties of Las Vegas, LLC, a real estate development corporation. In addition to her professional career, Nancy is an accomplished golfer and is a member at Point Judith Country Club, Bear's Paw Country Club, and Saddlebrook Country Club. Other interests include tennis, skating, horseback riding, and cooking.

 

Nancy also spends much of her time with her three sons, all who attend or attended Rocky Hill School: William '04, Patrick '08, and Sean '11. She and her family reside in East Greenwich, RI. Email Nancy

Wilson G. Saville II

Managing Director, Barrett & Company

Wilson has been the managing Director at Barrett & Company for over twenty years.  Founded in 1928, Barrett & Company remains one of Rhode Island 's oldest investment firms, offering a full spectrum of financial products and advice.

Wilson is married to Ellen Mossop Saville, a former Rocky Hill School Board Member. Wilson and Ellen have three children:  Wilson III -19 yrs, Spencer - 16 yrs, and Georgia - 8 yrs who is presently a student at Rocky Hill School.

                                                                                                                                        

Wilson also serves on the board of Meeting Street School where he is a past Vice-Chairman and Current Board Member. In addition, Wilson is a former adviser to several other not-for-profit organizations, including Big Brothers, the Boys & Girls Club and Providence Country Day School.

Richard Solomon, PhD

Delta Consultants

Rick is the Clinical Director/President of Delta Consultants, a multi-disciplinary practice serving children, adolescents and families. He is a Clinical Consultant to numerous public, private and parochial schools and human services agencies throughout New England. He maintains an appointment as an Instructor in Psychology at the University of Rhode Island and is the recent recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Award from the University of Rhode Island (Providence Campus). Rick completed his undergraduate education at Hobart College and McGill University and his graduate work at the University of Rhode Island. He is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and certified School Psychologist in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Rick is the co-author of the book, “Paternal Deprivation and Child Maltreatment” and presenter at numerous conferences in New England and nationally on his work with child maltreatment, learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder. Volunteer activities have included two terms as President of the Rhode Island Chapter for the Prevention of Child Abuse, past editor of the Rhode Island Families Magazine and member of the Board of Director of the Blackstone Valley Emergency Shelter. He is the recipient of the Commissioner's Award (from the Department of Health and Human Services) for volunteer activities on behalf of child abuse prevention.

Ruth S. Taylor

Executive Director, Newport Historical Society, M.S., Bank Street College of Education

Ruth Taylor joins the Rocky Hill School Board of Trustees with over 20 years of professional experience in non-profit educational settings. The expertise that she brings to the Rocky Hill School Board of Trustees includes non-profit management and Board development; curriculum and program development; fundraising, and the advancing of institutional missions and goals.  Ruth is a former President of the International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS) in Newport, RI. Her experience with non-profits is extensive and also includes: interim director of Preserve Rhode Island and the Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol, facilitator for the Newport Art Museum's accreditation self study, a researcher for the Rhode Island Foundation and start-up coordinator of the Learning Community Charter School in Central Falls, RI.

 

Ruth and her husband, Adams, live in Newport, RI. Their daughter Maya is a Rocky Hill School graduate, Class of 2004 and a member of the Class of 2008 at Brown University, and their daughter Sarah '10 is currently enrolled at Rocky Hill School.   Email Ruth
