Senior Project

The culmination of a Rocky Hill School student's experience, the Senior Project, is an independent off-campus internship. The Class of 2007 is busy preparing and planning for their 4-week internships to begin in April.

Internships

Amee A. – AIDS Care Ocean State Organization – working with children suffering from HIV/AIDS

 

Courtney B. – Pawtuxet Valley Prescription and Surgical Center in Coventry – assisting in equipment testing, drug discovery and drug testing

 

Alex B. – RI State Police (also a Forensic Psychology Program) – learning about the criminal justice process, shadowing police officers on calls, and participating in a graduate forensic program

 

Andrew B. – Department of Environmental Management – internship is still under construction

 

Ian C. – WRNI, (Providence) – assisting Mark Degon, Director of Communications in collecting information, researching topics, developing articles, analyzing events, monitoring the AP, delivering messages, and taking notes as well as updating the MSNBC website and creating links to articles

 

Patricia C. – Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants (a multi-disciplinary professional civil engineering and land surveying firm) – shadowing the owner and assisting in the design process of a project

 

Chris C. – Save the Bay – aiding in habitat restoration and educational programs

 

Jesse D. – Cole Junior High School (Middle School Athletic Program) – assisting the athletic director in managing the program, helping to organize events and running some classes

 

Troy D. – CVS Pharmacy: Marketing Division – participating in some behind-the-counter preparations and helping with queries

 

Jordan F. – Inskip: Mercedes-Benz (Warwick) – learning how to prepare sales agreements, calculate final sales figures and configure monthly payments while performing various functions that go into the daily operation of a car dealership

 

Jessica F. – Tauck World Discovery – assisting in planning tours and creating customized itineraries for clients, as well as (if possible) assist a tour guide on one of the company's personalized tours

 

Elise F. – Donna Karan International (New York City) – assisting in the Public Relations and Communications Department - helping to review the spring line samples and communicate those findings to magazines that cover the DKNY line

 

Nate F. – East Greenwich Pendulum – participating in the management and running of a daily newspaper as well as reporting/writing

 

Andrew F. – Tri_com Computer Systems – working in the service department with one of the customer support professionals

 

Daphne F. – Environmental Protection Agency – assisting in the Marine Science program

 

Andrei H. – Clancy Design (a glass blowing studio in Jamestown ) – learning the fundamentals of glass blowing and producing creative pieces

 

Tim H. – Vibco Industrial Vibration Products – assisting in the process of machine design and helping in the creation and subsequent development of a new prototype, as well as testing it against current models

 

Austin J. – Suzanne Tanner and Tracy Glover (glass blowers) – performing secondary tasks in the glass blowing process, such as the assembly of glass parts as well as creating personal pieces while being trained how to run a small business

 

Rome K. – Hissar Sailing Team – assisting in building a race boat from the beginning and learning about the mechanics and engineering that help to construct a boat of this caliber

 

Kassandra K. – Hasbro Children's Hospital – working with pediatric patients in the long-term care unit and using Spanish to assist in communication with Spanish-speaking patients and families

 

Robert K. – New Harbor Group (Public Relations) – conducting statistical research for the company

 

Courtney L. – International School of Lund, Sweden and Sweet Peas Village, East Greenwich – assisting and teaching in a European classroom vs. an American classroom as well as studying the differences in school settings and curriculum

 

Ben L. – Jewish Federation, Providence - examining the media and analyzing interpretation of events

 

Sara L. – Leroy Bennett, Production and Lighting Design – helping to set up lighting for shows/concerts as well as tracking the development of preparation for a lighting show

 

Whitman L. – The Family Life Center – connecting ex-offenders with possible job openings, teaching computer literacy and basic Microsoft platforms

 

Mike M. – LDI Casting – assisting with casting sessions, taking pictures of potential actors selected for a shoot, preparing their applications, and helping with the preparations for daily shooting

 

Matt M. – Extra Innings – meeting and working with coaches from several sports institutions

 

Wynn M. – The Pennfield Elementary School – assisting two first and second grade teachers (with organization, reading and grading papers) and organizing and leading a few activities

 

Tia O. – Martin Luther King Elementary School – assisting in the language resource and reading program

 

Jaclyn P. – Department of Forensics, University of Rhode Island – assisting in computer decoding (one of the functions of the department)

 

JZ P. – First Saturday Grandmaster Chess Tournament, Budapest, Hungary – working with sophisticated software to prepare strategies for openings, middle games and endings, preparing with an International Master as well as the sponsor, an international tournament arbiter

 

Caroline P. – CNN, New York City (American Morning Program – Soledad O'Brien) – working closely with the assistant to Ms. O'Brien – researching and analyzing news (compiling for reading, and sifting through breaking news), confirming guests, fact checking, and traveling to news sites

 

Sarah P. – Foundry Sports Medicine & Fitness – working alongside a physical therapist in a private practice, and administering treatment

 

Caroline R. – RDW Group (Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations) – assisting members of the PR Department, traveling to clients, and helping to implement advertising strategies for clients

 

Hyerim S. – Attorney General's Office, State of Rhode Island – assisting in the Criminal Division and the Juvenile Protection Unit

 

Alex S. – A & M Productions – internship is still under construction

 

Rebecca S. – Roger Williams Park Zoo – working with the zoo keepers in taking care of the animals on a daily basis

 

Gray T. – Item Industrial Design – working alongside a designer, from the conception of an idea, through production to marketing

 

Yiwan Z. – Waterfire – internship is still under construction
