Week of November 24-25, 2008

Congratulations to our October LS VIPs. These students were honored at this week's Morning Assembly for displaying strong work in the areas of Citizenship, Scholarship and Sportsmanship. Pictured here are:

Alex Akhtari (Gr.3), Max Lehoullier (Gr.1), Georgina Andrews (Gr.4), Dominique Shatkin (Gr.3), Olivia Ahlborg (Gr.2), Elsa Block (K),

Matthew Sherry (K), Vaughn Doorley (K), Donna Russo (Gr.5) and Lauren Silva (Gr.5).

Grand Friends Day is Tuesday, November 25 and we can't wait! Some things to remember about this day:

K-5 students arrive to school at regular time – 8:00 AM. GrandFriends are invited to arrive at 9:00 AM in the Campbell Center where the day's festivities will begin.

Preschool GrandFriends have been invited to either 8:10 AM or 9:30 AM. They should proceed directly to the Preschool building. The Preschool GrandFriends Day program lasts one hour.

This is a Dress Up Day for all students. That means dresses or skirts for the girls, and shirts, sweaters or jackets for the boys.

For K-5 guests, the day will involve walking to difference buildings throughout the campus. Golf carts will be available for any guests who may need transportation assistance.

GrandFriends Day Bakers: Thank you in advance for offering to help with food. Drop off can be made on Monday afternoon to Vivian Rougier, receptionist, in Hopelands, or on Tuesday morning by 8:15 AM, in the Campbell Center Cafeteria. Please remember our NO NUTS policy.

Dismissal for all K-5 students will be directly after the musical program. Students will be dismissed from the classroom, so we ask that one parent or grandfriend pick up in the classroom. There is NO extended day program on Tuesday.

Save the Date for Lower School Family Math Night: Our first Rocky Hill Family Math Night will be Thursday, December 4th at 6:30 p.m. in the Campbell Center .  This night will be devoted to strengthening math skills and “math talk” through the power of family interaction.  The night will be full of fun math activities, ice cream sundaes, and estimation door prizes!!! Please mark your calendars now to attend this exciting event - December 4th, 2008 - 6:30-8:00 p.m., Campbell

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and Kindergarten and Grade 5 are coordinating this year's Thanksgiving baskets in the Lower School for the needy. Every class is creating a list of ingredients for a complete family Thanksgiving meal and then filling the baskets in class. The baskets will be delivered to families in need in the East Greenwich area by our Upper School students. Food donations will be accepted until Tuesday, Nov. 25th. Thank you, in advance, for your help with this project.

Grade 4 students have been practicing citizenship in action by conducting class elections. Here are two formidable candidates, John and Tory, delivering their campaign speeches to their classmates!

Lost and Found – Our basket runneth over!! If your child is missing any items, please come and see if they are in our Lost and Found basket, located in the Perkins supply closet next to Mrs. O's office. It helps everyone if all children's outer clothing (mittens, hats, etc...) is labeled with their name. Thanks!

BoxTops for Education: Please continue to save those valuable boxtops symbols from all of your holiday cooking!!
