As
culminating activities to our Election 2008
units in LS, each child in Perkins had an opportunity to cast
his/her vote for President. The information was gathered and
then each class presented their tallies, which were explained
during morning assembly. Are you surprised to learn that Lower
School voted as did the nation?? Obama was victorious.

Day Invitations were mailed last week.
Please
confirm with your child's guests the date, Tuesday,
November 25 and times :
Preschool: Arrival time was circled on the
invitation (either: 8:10-9:10 AM or 9:30-10:30 AM)

Request for parent bakers: We are in need of parent
bakers for this event. If you would like to donate finger
sandwiches, quick breads, mini-muffins, or fruit and cheese

Save
the Date for Lower School Family Math Night: Our
first Rocky Hill Family Math Night will be held on December
4 th at 6:30 PM in the Campbell Center. This night
will be devoted to strengthening math skills and math talk
through the power of family interaction. The night will be
full of fun math activities, ice cream sundaes, and estimation
door prizes!!! Please mark your calendars now to attend
this exciting event.
There's
someone new in the Brick House! Welcome to our new
school nurse, Mrs.Ann Durning, who joined the RHS

Mrs.
O will host a LS Coffee and Conversation
on Thursday, November 13 th in the Perkins
Blue Room from 8:20-9:20 AM. This is an informal get-together
to learn more about Lower School events.
Did
you know about Upper School Math Buddies?
Beginning this November, Upper School student volunteers will
be working with Lower School students on basic math concepts
for 15-20 minutes on a variety of topics using games and activities
that they help put together. The Upper School student
volunteers are Alex Forrester, Katie Meringolo, Iona Ross,
Karolyn Jackson, Anthea Weixel, Ayodele Samuel, and Sarah
Taylor. We are very excited for this partnership and
are eager to see the benefits of their time and effort.
Veterans
Day: We are in the process of organizing our Veterans
Day observance for Lower and Middle Schools and would like
to extend an invitation to any member of our school family
who is a veteran or a current member of our country's armed
forces to join us Monday, November 10th at 11:15 AM.
The ceremony will last approximately 25 minutes.

Media Specialist/Librarian: On Monday, November 17th
Ms. Larisa Badger will join the RHS faculty as our new Media
Specialist/Librarian. Ms. Badger has her BA from the University
of Rhode Island and her MLS from Simmons College . She is
also a certified teacher in Library Media. We are pleased
and eager to welcome her aboard!

After
School Enrichment Programs : This is the Final Week
for Chess Club, Chinese Culture, and Soccer. Thank you to
all who helped make these programs a success. Karate will
continue on Tuesday/Thursday. Music with Mr. Christensen will
continue on Tuesday. We are taking a break for the holiday
season; Winter Enrichment Program will begin January 12th.
Possible Offerings include: Yoga for grades 2-5; Bead Mania
for grades 2-5.
From
Miss Kathy in Extended Day : With the focus on Thanksgiving,
we will be making woven baskets, and cave art painting next
week in regular Extended Day. We will also be cooking with
corn, pumpkin, and squash. Look in the preschool play yard
for our Mister Pumpkinhead!
