EnviroEd - "Explorations"
Experiential learning is
taken out of the classroom and on to our 88-acre campus during the
annual fourth and fifth grade environmental program, “Explorations”.
The program's curriculum alternates yearly between science and historical
themes. Canoeing, camping, developing leadership skills, conducting
experiments, talking with historical ghosts, and creating through
the arts are just a few of the highlights of this unique program.
“Explorations” is an important component
of the Lower School curriculum that clearly expands the intellectual
and cultural experiences of our students. In addition to the academic
benefits, the canoeing, camping and leadership aspects of the program
help build self-reliance and mutual respect in the children as individuals
and a community.
