Background
Ruffin brings her love
of literature and research, as well as her expertise in many technological
facets of media services, to an eager faculty and student body
at RHS. Her enthusiasm and experience make her a valuable resource
in the Rocky Hill community. Prior to moving to Rhode Island,
Ruffin served as the Librarian for the Culbreth Middle School
in Chapel Hill, North Carolina from 2003-2007. She also served
as an interim librarian for Seawell Elementary School in Chapel
Hill, and the Harpeth Hall School in Nashville.
Philosophy
of Education
"Research consistently
demonstrates that well-equipped, quality school library media
centers, with professional staff, directly relate to the academic
success of their students." Keith Curry Lance,
2005
In an age of information
overload, it is vital for students to have the information skills
to meet their needs.
Interests,
Activities and Plans
Ruffin
spends a lot of time training for triathlons and running. She
finds that audiobooks on the iPod allows her to enjoy her other
passions of young adult fiction, grown-up non-fiction and cooking
podcasts. She hasn't found a way to read graphic novels and swim,
but she is open to suggestions.
