Background
A
native of North Providence, Paul lived in New Jersey, Massachusetts,
and Florida before returning to Rhode Island. Paul taught at Portsmouth
Abbey School, Jacksonville Episcopal High School, and Saint Andrew's
School of Boca Raton before coming to Rocky Hill in 1976. He has taught
English for thirty-six years in grades eight through twelve. At Rocky
Hill, Paul has served as Head of Upper School, Dean of Students, Director
of Admission, Director of College Counseling, and English Department
Chairman. In addition, Paul is a member of the New England Association
of College Admissions Counselors and was named NEASC Secondary School
Counselor of the Year for Rhode Island in 2002. Paul also received the
U. S. Presidential Scholar's Program Teacher Recognition Award in 2003.
Interests
and Activities
- Teaching
traditional English courses in a wide range of literary time periods
and genres.
- Specializes
in SAT preparation and TOEFL preparation.
- Founded
South County Educational Consultants, a private educational consulting
firm, in 1989.
- Works
during the summer as a commercial fisherman.
On
a Personal Note
Family:
Mr. Tukey's wife, Marianne, has taught for twenty-three years at South
County Montessori School in North Kingstown. Their daughter Melissa,
Rocky Hill Class of 1998, graduated from Harvard in 2002 and is currently
a third-year student at Harvard Medical School .
