Educational Philosophy

It is my belief that the most effective teaching happens in the Middle School. Adolescents is one of the most difficult times in a child's life. I like being there for the child on both an intellectual and a personal level. Some of the most influential people in my life were my teachers. It is my hope that as these students evolve over their three years in Middle School, they feel confident in knowing that no matter where they fall on the developmental spectrum they are exactly where they should be.

I believe in teaching skill building. Reading, writing and public speaking are of equal value . In my classroom, the Harkness table enables students to share their understanding of complex issues and to discuss possible outcomes related to their research. My goal is for each student to know their own voice and be comfortable with what that voice has to offer their larger community.
