Michael Sullivan was appointed by Governor Donald L. Carcieri to his cabinet in April 2005. As Director of DEM, Mike oversees a broad range of environmental programs, ranging from permitting and enforcement to fish and wildlife, agriculture, forestry, open space preservation, and management of the state's parks and beaches. Mike earned his PhD in Agronomy from the University of Nebraska in 1981. He holds an MS in Agronomy from the University of Vermont, and a BS in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Rhode Island.

Prior to his appointment to the DEM, Mike served as a Professor of Plant Sciences at the University of Rhode Island from 1981 to 2005. The author of scores of articles in scientific journals, his research has focused on land-use management practices and their impact or potential impact on water quality. He is a member of the American Society of Agronomy, the Soil Science Society of America, and the Crop Science Society of America.

Beyond his volunteer commitment to Rocky Hill, Mike has a long history of public service. He served on the Richmond Town Council from 1988 -1992, and from 1998 - 2006 he was Town Council President. He also served as a RI State Senator from 1993 - 1997. He has been a Director of the Portuguese American Scholarship Foundation (1995 - 2002); Member of the Rhode Island Scenic Roadways Board (1992 to present); Director of Borders Farm Preservation, Inc. (1998 to present); Member of Rhode Island Community Farm (2003 to present); and Member of the Rhode Island Conservation Commission (1983 - 2001).

Mike and his wife, Mary, reside in West Kingston. They have three children, all of whom attended Rocky Hill School: Matt '96, Peter '99, and Bridget '01.

Ande was born in Johannesburg, South Africa where she attended the University of the Witwatersrand earning a Bachelor of Science degree, and a postgraduate degree in Education. Her career interests and experience span high school teaching, computer programming, marketing, branding, publishing and business management. Ande has always exhibited a passion for education whether it was through expanding the opportunities for uneducated, unemployable “disenfranchised” youth in South Africa, volunteering as a teacher, or seeking out the best for her own three children.

Shortly after Ande and her husband Peter, a native Rhode Islander, moved to the United States, Ande ran a financial and marketing consulting firm from 1994 -1999, working with clients in South Africa who were motivated to offer credit to people with extremely low income.

Ande's professional and volunteer experiences have centered on marketing, fundraising, education (particularly the sciences) and health care. She brings invaluable energy and expertise to her role as Rocky Hill School Trustee and Co-Chair of Charting the Course – The Mariners' Campaign for Rocky Hill School.

The Frosts live in Narragansett and their three children attend Rocky Hill: Chelsey `10, Read `16 and Jamie `17.

Edwin J. Santos, Co-Vice President

Edwin J. Santos is Chairman of the Board of Rhode Island’s newest hospital system, CharterCARE Health Partners. In 2009, as the former Chairman of Roger Williams Medical Center, Mr. Santos helped direct the medical center’s affiliation with St. Joseph’s Health Services. After approval by the State of R.I., CharterCARE began operating in January 2010 with 579 hospital beds, 3,200 employees and annual revenues of $330 million.

Mr. Santos is also Vice Chairman of the Board of Crossroads, R.I., Co-Vice President of the Board of Rocky Hill School, and a member of the Board of Directors of Delta Dental of R.I. In September 2010, he joined the Board of Pyramis Global Advisors, a Fidelity Investments company. Also in 2010, he served as Treasurer of democratic candidate Gina Raimondo’s successful campaign for the office of R.I. General Treasurer, subsequently being named to the Treasurer-elect’s transition team.

In addition to his role in the community, Mr. Santos has 28 years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently as Group Executive Vice President and General Auditor for Citizens Financial Group, a $129-billion multi-state bank holding company and one of the nation’s 10 largest banks. Previously, he was the Chief Auditor for FleetBoston Financial Group’s global operations, overseeing approximately 300 employees in various audit, compliance and operating risk functions throughout the U.S. and Latin America. He also served on Fleet’s Leadership Advisory Council, and participated in all major acquisitions, mergers and reengineering efforts during Fleet’s growth to a $200-billion financial services company.

Mr. Santos, a Certified Internal Auditor, is recognized as a leader in the internal audit profession, with experience in operating risk management, corporate governance and management advisory services. He received a B.S. degree from Bryant University in 1981, where he previously served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Santos was also the recipient of the R.I. Black Heritage Society Award for Labor and Enterprise in 2008.

He and his wife, Paula, live with their children, Erica, Steven, and Michael in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.

Richard Barker ‘54, Co-Treasurer

Richard (Dick) Barker '54 has a long history with Rocky Hill School, first as a student here from third through 8th grade, and later as a parent, volunteer and Board Member. Dick's first term with the Rocky Hill Board was from 1984 -1993 during which time he served as President (1988 -1993). Dick returned as the Board Treasurer in 2000.

Dick spent much of his professional career in the banking industry. From 1965 -1986 he was a Vice President and a Commercial Banking Officer at Bank of New England/Old Colony. He then joined Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank as a Vice President where he worked until 1993. Since then, Dick has worked in real estate and is currently a broker for Phipps Realty. Dick received his BS in Business Administration from Bryant College, and completed additional educational and professional development course work at University of Georgia, UConn, and Williams College.

Dick's civic volunteer work goes beyond Rocky Hill, as he is the former Treasurer and Board member of The Tomorrow Fund and was given the Friend for Life Award in 1997 for his service. Rocky Hill has also recognized Dick's generous support and many successes. In 1989, he was presented with the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award, and in 2003, the Headmaster's Award for Community Service. Dick and his wife, Carol, reside in North Kingstown and have a son, Rick, Rocky Hill Class of 1983 and a daughter Jennifer.

Wilson has been the managing Director at Barrett & Company for over twenty years. Founded in 1928, Barrett & Company remains one of Rhode Island's oldest investment firms, offering a full spectrum of financial products and advice.

Wilson is married to Ellen Mossop Saville, a former Rocky Hill School Board Member. Wilson and Ellen have three children: Wilson III, Spencer and Georgia '18 who is presently a student at Rocky Hill School.

Wilson also serves on the board of Meeting Street School where he is a past Vice-Chairman and Current Board Member. In addition, Wilson is a former adviser to several other not-for-profit organizations, including Big Brothers, the Boys & Girls Club and Providence Country Day School.

Michael F. Kraemer, Esq., Secretary

Michael F. Kraemer is a partner in the Providence law firm of Hinckley, Allen & Snyder LLP, specializing in labor and employment matters. Coming to Providence in 2002, he previously practiced law in the Philadelphia area.

Michael received his JD from the University of Pennsylvania and is also an alumnus of Amherst College. He is a past president of the Amherst Association of Philadelphia and the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award given by the Amherst College Alumni Council. His civic and charitable involvement also includes volunteer work for Springside School, in Philadelphia, and Penn Law School. He is a member of the University Club in Providence.

Michael and his wife, Ross, reside in Providence. She is a professor at Brown University, in the Religious Studies Department. Their daughter Jordan is a 2000 graduate of Wesleyan University, holds a master's degree from the University of Chicago, and is a PhD student in anthropology at the University of California at Irvine.

 

    
Edwin Furtado
 
Ed is a lifelong resident of Rhode Island and holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Providence College and a juris doctorate degree from Boston University School of Law. He has spent more than 25 years in the financial services industry serving as Executive Vice President for Home Loan Investment Bank from 1988 to 2003. He is a former vice chairman of the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation and a former chairman of the Rhode Island Industrial Facilities Corporation.
  
Ed and his wife Regina live in Warwick and are the parents of two daughters the younger of whom, Elizabeth, attends Rocky Hill as a member of the class of 2017.
    

Mary H. Grant, PhD

Mary H. Grant, Ph.D. of Philadelphia, PA is a recently retired Head of School from The Ellis School in Pittsburgh, PA. Prior to that Mary was the Head of School at the Springside School in Philadelphia. Her professional affiliations include National Association of Independent Schools, Headmistresses Association of the East and the National Coalition of Girls Schools. Her extensive experience with independent schools brings a wealth of knowledge to the Rocky Hill Board of Trustees. Mary received her AB from Smith College and her PhD from George Washington University.

Mary Ann Hackett

Mary Ann Hackett is an active parent in the Rocky Hill Community. Her involvement in the Parent Teacher League as Treasurer and President has made her a familiar face around the campus.

Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, she arrived in Rhode Island after living in Hong Kong and Manila, Philippines for 8 years. Most recently she and her family lived in Dubai, UAE. Her two sons, Hudson '09 and Phillip '10, are graduates of Rocky Hill School. Mary Ann is known around campus as being a great supporter and continues to volunteer for the PTL. She has also been an active member of the Saunderstown Yacht Club as their secretary.

 

    
 
Charles Iacono '99

Vice President of Philanthropy at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island
 
Charles Iacono is a 1999 graduate of Rocky Hill School.  He received his BA from Assumption College and his MBA in Global Business from Johnson and Wales University.  Charles is a seasoned fundraising professional who enjoys working with all aspects of the greater New England markets.

He has directed and managed capital campaigns, annual fund campaigns and endowment campaigns throughout New England and New York for the past 6 years. In his current role, he serves as the Vice President of Philanthropy for Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, (HHCRI) Rhode Island’s largest hospice and palliative care provider. Tasked with managing and directing all three major philanthropic campaigns, HHCRI has realized substantial annual growth in all fundraising initiatives since his arrival in 2007.

Involved in a variety of community activities, Charles offers strategic counsel to a number of non-profit organizations in Rhode Island and he is currently a member of the Leadership Rhode Island Epsilon II Class. He is also an Adjunct Faculty member at Salve Regina University.

    
 


William N. Janikies '83

Bill is president and chief operating officer for New England’s largest privately owned restaurant and hospitality company, The Jan Companies.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Science Studies and Business Management from Babson College in 1987.  He is also an alumnus of Rocky Hill School, class of 1983.  Bill and his wife, Sharon, are active members of the Rocky Hill School community with two children who are currently enrolled, Julia ‘16, and Will ’17.  
    
 
James Lehouiller

James Lehouiller oversees all aspects of DiLeonardo’s global operations with a guiding focus on advancing its reputation for exceeding client expectations in the pursuit of excellence. He travels extensively, overseeing the firm’s offices in the United States, Dubai, Hong Kong, China and the Philippines.
 
He received his Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration degree, with a concentration in Finance and Marketing from the University of Vermont as well as Degree of Doctor of Business Administration in Hospitality Management Honoris Causa from Johnson & Wales University.
 
Among the various civic and professional organizations he is associated with, James is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, Historic New England, a founding board member for the US Green Building Council Rhode Island Chapter Board of Directors and is a registered LEED Accredited Professional. He is also on the International Advisory Board of Johnson & Wales University and is a frequent guest speaker at industry conferences.
 
James grew up on a Dairy Farm in a small ski town in bucolic Vermont near Montreal, Canada.
When not traveling or in the office, you will find him outside on his tractor at his home in Rhode Island which is located on an old farm.  His wife is a graduate of Rocky Hill School and his children attend Rocky Hill's Lower School.

Michele Nota

Michele is the Executive Director, Alumni Relations at the University of Rhode Island. Michele brings extensive experience in the area of development and fundraising in the education sector. Michele and her husband have three students at Rocky Hill School and have been active members of the school community for years. Michele has served as a Classroom Representative for the Parent Teacher League and she and her husband co-chaired the School's annual Fall Classic Golf and Tennis Tournament in the past.

Gordana Novakovic-Petteruti

Gordana Novakovic-Petteruti was born and raised in the former Yugoslavia (in part of the country that is now Croatia and Serbia). She received a BS/MS degree in International Marketing/Economics from the University of Osijek (Croatia).

As part of her studies, she spent four semesters at Cambridge University, England; five semesters at the University of Osijek, Croatia; and one semester at the University of Pforzheim (Fachhochschule fur Wirtschaft), Germany. She arrived at Brown University as an exchange student through AIESEC international program and had an internship in the Computer Department of the Providence Journal Company. Gordana was employed as an MIS Director for ABCO Distributors and Union Office Supply Co. in Boston, where she implemented and managed Hewlett-Packard 3000 computer systems for several years. In 1989, she was appointed Vice President of Operations for Union Office Supply Co., where she was in charge of the Computer Department, Customer Service, Warehousing and the Accounting Department.

Gordana is a life-long learner with a special affinity for languages, world geography, world history and political science. She truly believes that empowering through education is the biggest gift and lasting asset we can give our children.

She is a loving mother to her three wonderful children who are all Rocky Hill School students: Alina '09, Robbie '13 and Anessa '17.

Lisa Palin

Lisa M. Palin is presently an attorney at Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky & Popeo, P.C in Boston. Her specialties include Insurance/Reinsurance, Education Law, and Juvenile Justice. Lisa is a graduate of Rocky Hill School’s class of 1995 and has continued to be active in the Rocky Hill School community, most recently participating in the Alumni Career Day. She received her BA from Brown University in 1999, her M.Ed from Boston College Lynch School of Education in 2004, and her law degree from Boston College Law School in 2004.

Henry D. Sharpe III '72

Henry is the owner and President of Bluewater Designworks, LLC, a Saunderstown company providing engineering services and embedded-control and data-logging solutions to the oceanographic research and environmental monitoring markets. Henry attended Rocky Hill School prior to graduating from Phillips Exeter Academy. Henry’s three children also attended Rocky Hill. Most recently, his daughter graduated as class of 2009 Valedictorian. Henry’s family has been long time benefactors to Rocky Hill School and Henry, as well as his father, have both served as members of the Board of Trustees in the past. Notably, Henry served as Chair of the school's Technology Committee when the school planned and implemented its transition to a laptop upper school. Henry is a graduate of Brown University and he earned his MSME from Stanford University.

 

    
 
Ceileidh Siegel '01
Senior Product Designer, Hasbro
 
Ceileidh (pronounced kā'lē) is a 2001 graduate of Rocky Hill School. Before Rocky Hill, Ceileidh attended Meadowbrook Waldorf School in Richmond, RI and Ecole d'Humanite in Switzerland.  She received her bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute in 2005, and a masters in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship Engineering from Brown University in 2009.  Ceileidh currently works as a senior product designer at Hasbro, focusing on interactive robotic plush, aka Elmo!
 

Ceileidh is an active board member of Singing Out Against Hunger, a charity based in Tiverton that hosts musical events to raise funds for food pantries in the East Bay area.  Within Singing Out, Ceileidh handles public relations, manages the website, and has lead the groups formal non-profit incorporation.  Ceileidh also manages www.willinhaiti.org, a website dedicated to creating a scalable public health program in Haiti and beyond.  With Meadowbrook Waldorf School, Ceileidh organizes an annual art show and sale, and is on the panel for What Happens After Waldorf, a discussion series for prospective parents.

 
In her free time Ceileidh likes to weld metal sculptures, go for bicycle rides, cook, eat, volunteer, boat and travel (and any of those activities combined).  She lives in Tiverton with her fiance Christian and their dog Sakari.

Stephen F. Siegel, PhD

Steve Siegel joined the Board of Trustees in 2006 and brings with him extensive business experience. Most recently, he is the founder of Coney Island Ventures (a management consulting firm), co-founder of Building2 Investments (an international venture capital company), and Chairman of Andera. Steve holds a BS from Brooklyn College, and his MS and PhD are from Brown University.

Steve volunteers his time and expertise at many other organizations. Serving his second term as Chairman of the Board of Advisors of the Brown University Entrepreneurship Program, Steve has been instrumental in mentoring many students in business and management. Other notable Board involvement has included the Glimpse Foundation (a non-profit charitable foundation that fosters international cross-cultural understanding and exchange), City Year RI, and Slater Fund.

He and his wife, Jayne live in East Greenwich and are the parents of Rocky Hill School students Amanda, Class of 2015 and Abby, Class of 2017.

 

    
 
Stephen G. Soscia

Steve, a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, is Founder, President CEO of Mutual Property Associates.  He established a multi-faceted strategic commercial real estate development firm specializing in acquiring, improving, holding and managing commercial properties.  Prior to that, he was the founder and president of New England Lawn Sprinkler Company.
 
Steve is a trustee and treasurer of Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island; he sits on the Development Committee of the Lincoln School; and is a committee member of the Arthritis Foundation.
 
Steve and his wife Patricia are the parents of three daughters who attended Rocky Hill School.
