The aim of the athletic program at Rocky Hill is to fulfill the school’s commitment to develop the whole child in mind, body, and spirit. The athletic program strives to provide our students with a wide range of physical fitness activities and team sports that will contribute to the child’s physical, mental, and social growth. The programs provide the time to develop skills in different team and individual sports and prepare students for competitive opportunities against our friendly rival schools.
The athletic program functions as an integral part of the total academic curriculum and strives for the development of well-rounded individuals, capable of taking his or her place in a competitive modern society. Valued qualities such as leadership, teamwork, cooperation, humility, sportsmanship, and positive reaction to pressure and stress, are all developed, as students work together for a common goal. We strive to win games, tournaments and league championships, but these are secondary to the premise of working hard together as a team and as individuals towards a common goal.
We want our students to be fit, healthy, and confident, and to learn to make healthy choices, live healthy life-styles, and have a commitment to continuing this into their adult lives. Our athletic staff has the responsibility for guiding the child through his or her development of this self-awareness; the coaches exemplify qualities that will undeniably motivate the child into becoming a responsible, self-disciplined, self-motivated, confident, and competent individual. We are proud of the many athletic achievements that our Rocky Hill teams and student-athletes have accomplished throughout the years.
