The athletic department’s mission is to provide safe, memorable and favorable experiences through the participation in a variety of physical fitness activities, athletic and programmatic options as to best develop the whole child in mind, body and spirit. Emphasis is placed upon incorporating character development, leadership as well as life-long physical education & health into each individual’s specific competitive pursuits, in and outside of school, now and into the future.
The athletic program functions as an integral part of the total academic curriculum which strives for the development of well-rounded individuals, capable of taking his or her place in a competitive modern innovative society. Valued qualities such as leadership, teamwork, cooperation, humility, sportsmanship, and positive reaction to pressure and stress are developed, as students work together for a common goal. Teams strive to win games, tournaments and league championships, but these are secondary to the premise of working hard together as a team and as individuals towards a common goal.
We want our students to be fit, healthy, and confident, while learning to make healthy choices, live healthy life-styles, and have a commitment to continuing this into their adult lives. Our athletic staff has the responsibility for guiding the child through his or her development of this self-awareness; the coaches exemplify qualities that will undeniably motivate the child into becoming a responsible, self-disciplined, self-motivated, confident, and competent individual. Leadership opportunities abound and ability to participate at all levels make Rocky Hill School stand apart. We are proud of the many athletic achievements that our teams and student-athletes have accomplished throughout the years!
