Rocky Hill School is proud to announce Anessa Petteruti of East Greenwich as the Valedictorian of the Class of 2017. Anessa earned the distinction by having a cumulative grade average greater than 95% over four years in the Upper School. She earned the highest grade average every year since sixth grade, was elected into the National Honor Society in her junior year, and has been the recipient of numerous academic awards in all subject areas. At Commencement on June 9, Anessa will deliver her Valedictorian address at the school that she called home since the first grade.
An accomplished pianist, Anessa studied at New England Conservatory Preparatory School in Boston and Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria. In 2016, she toured across Germany with the New England Conservatory, performed at Carnegie Hall, and won several regional and national piano competitions. Anessa is president of the Chopin Student Musicians Club.
When she wasn’t studying or playing music, Anessa brought her A game to the tennis court playing exclusively against male opponents. She was named Most Valuable Player and All League for four years at #1 singles, and received Independent School All State selection by the Rhode Island Interscholastic League. She is also the creator of her own culinary website and YouTube channel, www.foodfinessa.com.
Anessa will represent Rocky Hill’s Upper School in the “Best of the Class” program affiliated with ABC6 WLNE-TV. With the support of high school administrators and its sponsor, Roger Williams University, the program recognizes and encourages academic excellence and brings together the top academically ranked students from over 95 Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts high schools.
Anessa will attend Brown University in the fall of 2017.
