Rocky Hill School's environmental club, The Defenders, is hosting an E-Waste Recycling Day fundraising event Saturday, February 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the rear parking lot.
The event is free and open to the public to bring for collection the following items: televisions, monitors, CPU boxes, refrigerators, microwaves, air conditioners, and miscellaneous electronics and appliances. In accordance with state and federal law, all computer hard drives will be wiped or shredded. No tires, mercury, gas tanks, stand alone batteries or ballast will be taken at the time of collection.
CRT Recycling, Inc., of Brockton, Mass., which routinely provides this service throughout southeastern New England for a wide variety of schools and other non-profits, will collect, remove and properly recycle materials. Proceeds from the reuse and reselling will benefit Rocky Hill, and reduce the amount of e-waste that reaches the waste stream.
