
Dr. Vint Virga received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis and completed his clinical residency in behavioral medicine at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals. He is board-certified in veterinary behavior and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists.
Over the past 25 years of clinical practice, as the country's first veterinarian specializing in zoo animal behavior, Dr. Virga has worked with a remarkable range of creatures from giraffes, leopards, gibbons and wolves to livestock, horses, and family pets. As the founding president of Veterinary Healing Arts, he currently serves as a consultant to zoos and wild animal parks on the behavioral well-being of animals in their care. Since beginning his career as a writer, he has been the distinguished recipient of two MacDowell Fellowships as well as the Kate & George Kendall Fellowship.
In his talk, The Soul of All Living Creatures, Dr. Virga will give the first public reading from his forthcoming book [Random House / Broadway Books, July 2013] and explore our human relationship with animals to reveal key principles about how we each express ourselves.
