The Lower School is alive with the excitement of active learning. Walk down our corridors and you will find energetic students engaged in activities intended to awaken a sense of wonder and curiosity about our world:

• Grade 5 students communicate with classrooms around the world via the Internet while learning about the hardships along the Oregon Trail.
• First Graders create life-sized human skeletons in an effort to discover how our bodies work.
• Fourth Graders prepare to take the lead in the Lower School musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
• Second Graders work with Upper School scientists in the chemistry lab to create "slime" during Science Week.

Our educational philosophy understands that it is critical for our students to be excited about their school experience. At the same time, they need to be challenged to think critically, solve problems cooperatively, and to develop a firm foundation of basic skills needed for future learning. The key words RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, and SERVICE are taught to all students from the earliest ages. Our teachers are exceptional - dedicated to the concept that each student finds success at Rocky Hill - everyday.
