David's D.A.R.E Essay

I learned in D.A.R.E. (D.A.R.E. stands for drug abuse resistance education) that some kinds of drugs like marijuana, cocaine, and heroin are terrible for you and can kill you. I also learned that alcohol and smoking can kill you. Even prescription and over the counter drugs can kill you if you take them in the wrong dosages or when you are not sick.

But D.A.R.E. is not just about drugs. Officer Mayor is a policeman and he tells us and teaches us about how to stay out of trouble with the police and how the police force and the justice system work. He also tells us how he arrests people and how you can get people arrested.

I think D.A.R.E. is a very good program and it teaches children about how to stay healthy and to live a longer and better life. When I started D.A.R.E. I knew that drugs, smoking, and alcohol are bad for you and I would never do them. I thought it would be boring because I already knew they were bad for you. D.A.R.E. helped me realize how bad they are for you and the world needs more programs like D.A.R.E. to help us know more and be better people.

My conclusion is I was wrong. D.A.R.E. is a heck of a lot of fun and it is great.
